EDELWEISS
Long time ago,
there was a handsome young man who wanted to climb the Alp Mountain. The
mountain was so cold and covered with thick snow. People said that a beautiful
fairy lived in that mountain.
The man wanted
to meet the fairy. He wanted to see the beautiful palace made of ice. Many
people tried to climb the mountain but all of them did not succeed. Some of
them gave up before they met the fairy and some others could not stand the
cold.
This young man
was different. He could climb the mountain and did not give
up. He had to climb and climb for the whole week. The weather was so cold but
he kept climbing to the fairy’s palace.
He finally met the
beautiful fairy and they fell in love each other. But the fairy was not happy.
“We can’t live together. My father would not
allow me to marry a man,” said the fairy. “Why not?” asked the young man. “Because we live in two different worlds. I can’t stay in your world
because it is too hot and you can’t stay in my palace because it is too cold.
I’m afraid you will die,” explained the fairy.
And they had to
separate. Since that day, the young man promised to himself that he would not
marry anyone. The beautiful fairy was so sad that she cried everyday. Every
time her tears flowed down on the mountain, it became a beautiful white flower
called Edelweiss.

EDELWEISS
Lama waktu yang
lalu, ada seorang pemuda tampan yang ingin mendaki Gunung Alp. Gunung itu
begitu dingin dan tertutup salju tebal. Orang-orang mengatakan bahwa peri yang
indah tinggal di gunung itu.
Pria itu ingin
bertemu peri. Dia ingin melihat istana yang indah terbuat dari es. Banyak orang
mencoba untuk mendaki gunung, tetapi mereka semua tidak berhasil. Beberapa dari
mereka menyerah sebelum mereka bertemu peri dan beberapa orang lain tidak tahan
dingin.
Pemuda ini
berbeda. Dia bisa mendaki gunung dan tidak menyera . Dia harus memanjat dan
mendaki untuk seluruh minggu. Cuaca yang sangat dingin tapi ia terus mendaki ke
istana peri.
Dia akhirnya
bertemu peri yang indah dan mereka jatuh cinta satu sama lain. Tapi peri itu
tidak senang.
"Kita
tidak bisa hidup bersama. Ayah saya tidak akan membiarkan saya untuk menikah
dengan seorang pria," kata peri. "Mengapa tidak?" Tanya pemuda
itu. "Karena kita hidup dalam dua dunia yang berbeda. Saya tidak bisa
tinggal di dunia Anda karena terlalu panas dan Anda tidak bisa tinggal di istana
saya karena terlalu dingin. Aku takut kau akan mati," jelas peri.
Dan mereka harus
memisahkan. Sejak hari itu, pemuda berjanji pada dirinya sendiri bahwa ia tidak
akan menikah dengan siapa pun. Peri cantik itu sangat sedih lalu dia menangis
setiap hari. Setiap kali air matanya mengalir di gunung, menjadi bunga putih yang
indah yang disebut Edelweiss.
